SCLEROTISATION OF VEINS ON THE THIGHS, SHANKS

Sclerotisation – application of a solution of Aethoxysklerol to the veins which causes them to disappear within 6 to 12 weeks, is more commonly used now to remove veins from the lower limbs. The procedure can be carried out under local application of numbing cream and after the procedure elastic bandages are left on for 48 hours and can still be worn during the day for at least 14 days. Temporary small bruises can appear but will absorb.
